Achraf Bencharki and Youssef Belamri set for Al Ahly departure

Al Ahly SC are reportedly preparing a major restructuring of their squad ahead of next season, a move that could put several foreign players, including Moroccan duo Achraf Bencharki and Youssef Belamri, at risk of leaving the club.

According to Egyptian reports, Al Ahly’s management has decided to significantly reduce its foreign contingent, with plans to offload up to four overseas players at the end of the current campaign. The club is expected to retain only one foreign player as part of a broader strategy to rebuild the squad with new signings.

Journalist Mohamed Shabana, speaking on the “Number One” programme, stated that the club is actively preparing for a reshuffle aimed at bringing in higher-quality reinforcements. “Al Ahly will agree to the departure of four foreign players after the end of the season, and only one foreign player will remain. There is marketing for all foreign players in order to bring in players of the highest level,” he explained.

The Egyptian giants are believed to be targeting several new signings as part of their long-term planning, driven by the board’s desire to refresh the squad following inconsistent performances this season.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding squad changes, Al Ahly remain focused on immediate competition. The club is preparing for a high-profile clash against rivals Zamalek SC in the Egyptian league, with the derby scheduled for Friday at the Cairo International Stadium.

As the season progresses, attention will continue to build around which foreign players will be retained and who will be shown the exit door as Al Ahly move toward a new squad cycle.
