AC Milan v Inter Milan: Both teams backed to score at 1.55 in Perth friendly

AC Milan and Inter Milan will renew their fierce Derby della Madonnina rivalry in a pre-season friendly in Perth on Wednesday, with both teams backed to find the net in a match priced at 1.55 for that outcome.

The fixture is scheduled to take place at Optus Stadium in Australia. Nasser Eddy, a consultant for NCI Sport and presenter of the European Champions League on radio Nostalgie, has provided his assessment and predictions for the meeting.

The preview lists the match as taking place on 5 August 2026, with a 10:00 GMT start. A later fixture note gives the date as Wednesday, 5 July 2026, with kick-off at 13:00 GMT.

AC Milan are preparing for their second match ahead of the 2026-27 season, following a 2-2 draw with Celtic Glasgow on Saturday, 25 August. The club is expected to return to European competition in the Europa League this season as it seeks to recover the status it has lost over recent campaigns.

The Rossoneri have strengthened with the arrivals of Goncalo Ramos from Paris Saint-Germain and Mario Gila from Lazio. They are also attempting to persuade Brahim Diaz to return from Real Madrid, potentially to help replace Rafael Leao, whose departure is described as increasingly likely. Alex Jimenez and Niclas Fullkrug have left after disappointing final seasons.

The club is mourning the death of its legend Franco Baresi, who died on Friday, 31 August, aged 66. However, the loss is not expected to have a direct effect on the first-team’s preparations for the match.

AC Milan’s recent games suggest another open contest could be in prospect. Both teams have scored in each of the club’s past four matches, while one of the two sides has scored exactly twice in each of their last five fixtures.

Inter Milan have shown a similar attacking pattern. Both teams scored in each of the Nerazzurri’s last four matches, including Saturday’s victory over Manchester City on penalties. French midfielder Andy Diouf has also scored three goals in the final 15 minutes of matches during that run.

Diouf’s progress has helped soften the impact of Denzel Dumfries’ move to Real Madrid. The departure of goalkeeper Yann Sommer is regarded as another significant loss for Inter so far this summer.

The Italian champions have been relatively restrained in the transfer market. They have completed the permanent signing of Manuel Akanji from Manchester City after his first season with the club, while Aleksandar Stankovic has arrived from Club Brugge and experienced goalkeeper Ivan Provedel has joined from Lazio.

Inter are unbeaten in all competitions across their past 14 matches. Their last defeat came on 8 March against AC Milan, although head coach Christian Chivu will still be without his preferred attacking partnership of Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram. He can, however, call on much of his core squad, including Nicolo Barella, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Federico Dimarco, Benjamin Pavard, who has returned from a loan spell at Marseille, and Yann Bisseck.

The recent derby record gives Inter more cause for concern. They have failed to beat AC Milan in their past seven meetings, losing five and drawing two. The Nerazzurri have also failed to score in the last three encounters.

Across 230 meetings in total, though, Inter remain ahead with 85 victories to AC Milan’s 76, while 69 matches have ended level.

One of the main talking points will be AC Milan forward Francesco Camarda. The 18-year-old is regarded as one of the brightest prospects in Italian football and has recently extended his contract with the club until 2031.

Camarda scored twice against Celtic about 10 days ago and is aiming to establish himself as the leader of AC Milan’s attack after spending last season on loan at Lecce. The newly capped Italy international, whose early profile has drawn comparisons with Erling Haaland, is being closely watched.

The match is considered evenly balanced, with a draw priced at 3.63 and viewed as the most likely result. Given the attacking form of both sides, the prediction is for both teams to score, with “OUI” offered at 1.55. Camarda is also backed to score at odds of 4.00.

Odds may change.
