Diego Lopez: Torres More Useful to Milan Than Balotelli
Fernando Torres may have struggled during his time at Chelsea, but his new AC Milan teammate Diego Lopez believes the Spanish striker is exactly what the Rossoneri need.
Speaking on the club’s official channel, the former Real Madrid goalkeeper—who also joined Milan this summer—offered a strong endorsement of Torres, who arrives on loan to replace Mario Balotelli following the Italian’s move to Liverpool.
“We want Milan to return to their true level, and for that, Torres will be more useful to us than Balotelli,” Lopez stated confidently. “It’s a big transfer for Milan. He’s a player who has done incredible things, who brings experience and speed. He’s a great player.”
Torres, whose time at Stamford Bridge was marked by inconsistency, will be hoping to rediscover his best form in Serie A. For Milan, whose recent seasons have fallen short of their historic standards, Lopez’s words suggest a belief that the striker could play a key role in their revival.
