AC Milan have identified Granada winger Owen Emeka as a potential signing after scouting the Spanish side’s 1-1 draw with Albacete on 12 September.
The club’s recruitment team had travelled to assess the versatility of Dylan Rodriguez, but it was Emeka who made the strongest impression. The 17-year-old produced a powerful individual run before finishing at the near post to underline his growing reputation.
Emeka’s display came after another notable performance against Real Madrid in the semi-final of the U19 championship. Those appearances have strengthened the belief within Granada that he is one of the club’s most promising young players.
The Nigeria-born winger’s release clause is set at 15 million euros, a figure AC Milan now view as an opportunity in the market given his recent progress.
Real Madrid also monitoring Emeka
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, AC Milan want to move ahead of the competition by initially placing Emeka within their reserve side. However, the Italian club face a tight timetable if they are to secure his signature.
Real Madrid are also following the teenager closely in Spain, with both clubs maintaining a watching brief over the player. AC Milan believe activating his release clause is the only way to move ahead of the Spanish giants and complete a deal for the Hispano-Nigerian prospect.
Emeka has made six appearances in Segunda Division this year and has scored once. That goal made him the second-youngest scorer in Granada’s history.
Granada have been impressed by his athletic ability and recently committed him to a long-term contract running until 2031. Despite his progress, his estimated value on Transfermarkt is currently one million euros.
Emeka could feature again when Granada play Real Sociedad B in the eighth round of LaLiga2.
