Italian-Ivorian Moise Kean poised to extend Fiorentina stay after positive talks

AC Milan are reportedly lining up a move for Italian forward of Ivorian descent, Moise Kean, as they shape their strategy for the upcoming summer transfer window.

The Rossoneri’s recent manoeuvres in the market appear to signal a shift in focus, particularly following the January negotiations for Jean-Philippe Mateta, which, despite their dramatic conclusion, suggested that Milan’s long-standing interest in Dusan Vlahovic has cooled.

Vlahovic, who is nearing a return from a lengthy spell on the sidelines after suffering a serious muscle injury in November, is widely expected to pursue a future away from Turin and potentially outside Serie A altogether.

While Massimiliano Allegri has long admired the Serbian striker, AC Milan’s wage structure is believed to be incompatible with such a move. Added to this are lingering tensions from Allegri’s previous working relationship with Vlahovic at Juventus, which further complicate the picture.

With Europe offering no shortage of high-profile attacking options, attention has now turned to another centre-forward highly regarded by Allegri.

Moise Kean, who made his Serie A debut under the Milan coach during his time at Juventus, enjoyed some of the most productive spells of his Italian career working alongside him. That connection has once again brought Kean into the spotlight on Via Rossi.

According to Tuttosport, Milan have placed Kean at the top of their shortlist for a new striker ahead of next season. The club is said to be ready to open talks with Fiorentina, a stance reinforced by reports that a Milan scout was in attendance to watch Kean in action during the recent match against Torino. In that game, the forward scored an impressive goal, even though he passed up additional chances.

Despite occasional misses, Kean’s qualities remain highly valued within Milan’s hierarchy. His blend of technique, physical strength and finishing ability, combined with the profile of a modern striker, continues to impress both Allegri and the club’s decision-makers. Milan are keen to rebuild an attack that has lacked a top-class Italian presence in recent years, and Kean is viewed as a key piece in that plan.

The Rossoneri are expected to approach Fiorentina with the aim of negotiating a deal that avoids triggering Kean’s €62 million release clause.

Milan hope to reduce the overall cost, potentially by structuring payments in a way that would not be possible through a clause, while also maintaining a respectful relationship with the Viola.

Fiorentina’s status in Serie A next season could ultimately prove decisive in determining how talks unfold during the summer window.
