AC Milan make Manchester United defender Leny Yoro a summer transfer priority

AC Milan are preparing a move for Manchester United defender Leny Yoro in the next summer transfer window, according to Calciomercato.

The 20-year-old French-Ivorian is understood to be one of the Rossoneri’s leading targets as they look to strengthen their defence for the long term. A deal could require a fee of between 40 and 50 million euros.

Yoro already has a connection with Ruben Amorim, having worked with the Portuguese manager at Manchester United. Amorim is believed to rate the young centre-back highly, with his technical ability and potential matching the manager’s expectations.

Milan could also hope to use the influence of Jorge Mendes, Yoro’s agent, to help advance negotiations.

Yoro joined Manchester United from LOSC in 2024 for about 62 million euros. However, he has not yet established himself as an undisputed regular at Old Trafford, while his limited playing time this season has increased speculation about his future.

Transfermarkt values the defender at 45 million euros. Yoro earns 7,090,771 euros (4,609,001,150 FCFA) per year in England.

Manchester United remain in a strong negotiating position because of the length of Yoro’s contract. His current agreement runs until 2029 and includes an option for a further year.

Any transfer would therefore depend on Manchester United’s plans for the player, as well as Yoro’s willingness to continue his development elsewhere. For Milan, signing the defender would represent a significant investment in a long-term defensive project.
