AC Milan have expressed firm interest to sign Switzerland international of Nigerian descent Manuel Akanji in the current summer transfer window.

The 30-year-old centre-back is set for Manchester City departure this summer, with a host of clubs including Crystal Palace and Galatasaray expressing firm interest in the player.

Crystal Palace have delivered an official offer worth £15 million, with Manchester City yet to respond to the deal.

Joining the race for Akanji is the Italian giants, who has already held talks with Manchester City representatives in an attempt to snatch the defender.

Both parties are reportedly close to reaching an agreement for the transfer of the highly-rated defender. Meanwhile, the final hurdle will depend on Akanji as he is yet to give a definitive answer.

Akanji joined Manchester City from Borussia Dortmund in 2022 for €20 million and established himself as a key cog to the team.

Since arriving at the club, Akanji has made 136 appearances for the Premier League outfit, scoring 5 goals and providing 3 assists. His current contract with the Citizens runs until 2027.
