AC Milan has officially confirmed the signing of Dutch international midfielder Nigel De Jong from Manchester City. The Italian club announced the acquisition on Friday and promptly included him in the squad for the upcoming match against Bologna in the Championship on Saturday.

According to AC Milan’s website, De Jong has agreed to a three-year contract, valid until June 30, 2015. The financial details of the transaction, however, have not been disclosed. At 27 years old, De Jong is now part of the 23-player lineup selected by coach Massimiliano Allegri for the forthcoming match in Bologna, marking the second day of the championship.

Having begun his career at Ajax Amsterdam, the Dutchman, known for his robust style of play, played for Hamburg from 2006 to 2009 before joining Manchester City in 2009. During his time with Manchester City, he participated in 104 matches.
