AC Milan have moved closer to securing the services of France international of DR Congo descent Christopher Nkunku in the current summer transfer window.
Nkunku is set for a permanent departure from Chelsea after falling down the pecking order following the arrival of Joao Pedro and Liam Delap.
The 25-year-old, who is said not to be part of the club’s plans is expected to join the Italian giants in a significant move.
The Rossoneri and the Blues are expected to find a compromise over a transfer package ranging from €40m to €45m before the closure of the week.
Meanwhile, the former RB Leipzig star has already agreed on personal terms with the Serie A side, pending an agreement between both clubs.
Nkunku has failed to replicate in West London the form that earned him a €60m move from RB Leipzig two years ago.
The forward still had four years left on his Chelsea deal. Aston Villa, RB Leipzig and Bayern Munich were also interested in signing the 27-year-old, but Milan look to have won the race to Nkunku’s signing.
