AC Milan beat Manchester United 4-2 as Ruben Amorim records first win against former club

AC Milan secured a 4-2 friendly victory over Manchester United in Poland as Ruben Amorim claimed his first win against his former side and his first victory with the Italian club.

The match, played at Wroclaw Stadium, formed part of both teams’ preparations for the new season and saw Milan overturn two separate Manchester United leads before finishing strongly.

Manchester United made the perfect start when Harry Maguire headed them in front after only two minutes. AC Milan responded before half-time, with Samuel Chukwueze equalising in the 37th minute.

United then had an opportunity to restore their advantage before the interval, but Bruno Fernandes missed a penalty in the 42nd minute. The teams went into the break level at 1-1.

Manchester United moved back in front early in the second half. Patrick Dorgu scored to make it 2-1, putting the Premier League side ahead for the second time in the contest.

AC Milan again found a way back into the game, with Alfjndo Sisseh bringing the scores level in the 58th minute. The Italian side then took control during a decisive four-minute spell.

Goncalo Ramos put Milan ahead for the first time in the 68th minute before Ruben Loftus-Cheek added a fourth goal in the 72nd minute. United were unable to respond as AC Milan completed a 4-2 win.

The result gave Amorim his first friendly victory with AC Milan and came against his former club. Before this match, his side had drawn with Celtic and Inter and lost to Chelsea.

For Manchester United, it was their second defeat of pre-season. They had previously been beaten by Wrexham last month.

AC Milan will begin their Serie A campaign against Torino next Sunday. The opening-round fixture is scheduled to kick off at 9:45pm.

Manchester United will start their Premier League season against Hull City next Saturday, with kick-off set for 2:30pm.

The friendly provided both clubs with a final opportunity to assess their squads before their domestic campaigns begin, although Milan’s strong finish ensured the main talking point was their four-goal victory and Amorim’s success against his former team.
