Mario Balotelli Determined to Prove Himself in Return to AC Milan
Mario Balotelli is back at AC Milan, and this time, the 25-year-old striker is determined to avoid the pitfalls that marred his previous seasons, especially his forgettable stint at Liverpool during the 2014-2015 campaign. Having returned to Milan on loan, Balotelli is fully aware that his reputation has taken a hit, but he is focused on making a fresh start.
In an interview with La Gazzetta Dello Sport, the Ghanaian-born Italian forward openly acknowledged the doubts surrounding him: “I want to live and play like a man. I know that many people no longer believe in me. But I have to try and I am convinced that I can succeed. I promised it to Milan, to Mihajlovic, to Raiola (his agent), and to my family,” he said.
Balotelli, who had a high-profile but turbulent career at both Manchester City and Liverpool, emphasized that he is now older and wiser. “I am 25 years old and I am not a kid anymore. I have already wasted too much time,” he admitted, reflecting on his previous missteps. With Milan, he is keen to prove his worth and has made a personal promise to coach Sinisa Mihajlovic. “I told Mihajlovic that I had made mistakes but that if he trusted me, he would not be disappointed. I owe him a debt,” Balotelli shared.
The striker also has his eyes on a return to the Italian national team for Euro 2016. A strong season with Milan could pave the way for his inclusion, offering Balotelli a chance to revive his international career. With a renewed focus and determination, “Super Mario” is eager to show that he still has plenty to offer both at club level and on the international stage.
