AC Milan back in race to sign Dutch-Nigerian striker Joshua Zirkzee
Italian outfit AC Milan have renewed their interest in signing Dutch forward of Nigerian descent, Joshua Zirkzee.
The Rossoneri were heavily linked with the striker more than a year ago after his outstanding season with Bologna, a period that placed him firmly on the radar of several top European clubs.
Zirkzee ultimately opted for a move to the Premier League, joining Manchester United, but his time in England has not unfolded as hoped.
His role has diminished further following the summer arrival of Benjamin Šeško, leaving the former Serie A standout on the fringes of the team.
According to sources, Milan’s management are prepared to return for Zirkzee, who has emerged as the leading transfer target for new sporting director Igli Tare should Santiago Giménez depart. However, United’s demands for the deal remain strict.
The English side are reportedly seeking a loan with an obligation to buy, potentially tied to Champions League qualification, with a total package estimated at around €35-40 million.
Milan, on the other hand, would prefer a loan with an option to buy, especially as Zirkzee may not perfectly fit the traditional centre-forward profile the squad lacks.
Despite this, his talent and proven familiarity with Serie A continue to make him an appealing option.
