The possibility of both major Milanese football clubs, AC Milan and Inter Milan, being acquired by foreign owners is not out of the question.
Erick Thohir, a businessman from Indonesia, has already taken control of Inter Milan. Now, there are reports suggesting that another businessman, Peter Lim from Singapore, is interested in acquiring AC Milan. Lim has reportedly offered a significant sum, initially 300 million euros for 51% of the club’s shares, which was deemed insufficient by Barbara Berlusconi, the daughter of the club’s owner, Silvio Berlusconi. However, Lim is now prepared to increase his offer to over 500 million euros.
Silvio Berlusconi, the former President of the Italian Council and current owner of AC Milan, has previously expressed willingness to discuss selling a portion of the club, but only up to 30%. It remains to be seen whether he would accept Lim’s more substantial offer.
Additionally, another potential investor, Chinese businessman Zong Qinghou, is also reportedly interested in acquiring AC Milan.
The situation highlights the potential for significant changes in ownership within Italian football, with foreign investors showing interest in acquiring prestigious clubs like AC Milan and Inter Milan.
