Leipzig are being linked with a move for Tromsø centre-back Abubacarr Sedi Kinteh, with the highly rated teenager attracting attention after a rapid rise in Norway’s Eliteserien.
Reports in Germany and Norway suggest the Bundesliga club are monitoring the 19-year-old left-footed defender, though the likelihood of a deal remains unclear, with the current probability of any move described only as “?”. Tromsø have not indicated publicly whether they are prepared to sell, and with no contract expiry date listed for Kinteh, there is also external speculation that his situation could eventually lead to free-agent interest if no formal agreement is in place.
Kinteh, valued at €5.00m on Transfermarkt, has seen his market value climb sharply since joining Tromsø from Senegalese side Academy Mawade Wade for an undisclosed fee. His valuation rose from €1.8m in June 2025 to €4.5m in September, before reaching €5.00m by mid-December, underlining how quickly he has established himself in Norway’s top flight.
The Gambia defender, born on 30 November 2006 and standing at 1.86m, operates primarily as a centre-back and is noted as a left-footed option – a profile that would fit Leipzig’s long-standing preference for developing young, resaleable talent from smaller European leagues. He currently wears the number 25 shirt for Tromsø.
Having moved from Academy Mawade Wade to Tromsø in the 2024-25 cycle, Kinteh has experienced a swift progression from West African academy football to a European top division. That trajectory, combined with his age and physical profile, makes him an appealing long-term project for a club of Leipzig’s model.
While any prospective transfer remains at the rumour stage, a switch to the Bundesliga would represent a major step in Kinteh’s career and could significantly shape his reputation as one of The Gambia’s emerging defensive prospects if it eventually comes to pass.
