Aboutrika urges Mourinho to ‘explode’ after Real Madrid’s derby defeat

محمد ابو تريكة has called on Jose Mourinho to show his anger after Real Madrid’s 2-1 defeat by Atletico Madrid in the Madrid derby on Sunday.

The former الاهلي and Egypt midfielder was speaking as an analyst on beIN Sports after the match, which was played in the seventh round of La Liga.

Aboutrika criticised the refereeing decisions during the derby, arguing that the laws of the game had not been applied consistently against Real Madrid across the two halves.

“The team playing 12 against 10 normally wins, and the team that has the referee with it wins,” he said.

“In the first half, the referee refused to apply the law in Real Madrid’s favour, while in the second half he applied the law against them.”

He then directed a pointed message at Mourinho, Real Madrid’s Portuguese manager.

“Will you remain cute, Mourinho? The moment to explode has arrived, and I want to watch you in the press conference,” Aboutrika said.

“Just because the team is poor technically does not mean it should be treated unfairly. The red card was correct and legal, but where was the law in the first half? In truth, this was a victory with the help of a friend.”

The derby was marked by widespread controversy over the officials’ decisions, with Real Madrid objecting to the failure to show red cards in several first-half incidents.

The most prominent involved a challenge by Cuti Romero on Jude Bellingham, while another challenge by Kang-in Lee was made against Federico Valverde.

Real Madrid’s television channel argued that both players should have been sent off. Had that happened, Atletico Madrid would have been forced to finish the match with nine players.

Instead, the only red card of the game was shown to Real Madrid defender Dean Huijsen during the second half, after an intervention by the video assistant referee (VAR).

Atletico Madrid went on to secure a 2-1 victory in a match dominated by debate over the refereeing. Aboutrika’s criticism also focused on Mourinho and the way he handled the events of the derby.
