Aboubaka Soumahoro: French-Ivorian defender joins RCD Mallorca on loan from Hamburg

RCD Mallorca have signed French-Ivorian centre-back Aboubaka Soumahoro on loan from Hamburg. The 21-year-old left-footed defender joins the Spanish club from the Bundesliga side for the 2026-27 campaign.

Soumahoro moves to Mallorca having spent last season between Hamburg and Saint-Etienne. He joined the German club from Paris FC in February 2025 for 2m before returning to France on loan with Saint-Etienne in February 2026, a spell that ended when he went back to Hamburg at the close of the 2025-26 season.

Born in Paris and standing at 1.87m, Soumahoro has already gathered experience across several levels of senior football despite his age. He has appeared in the Bundesliga, Ligue 2 and Germanys Regionalliga, as well as in the DFB-Pokal. Earlier in his career he featured in Frances National U19 and National 2 competitions, scoring four goals across those two divisions.

A product of the youth systems at Paris FC and previously PSG, Soumahoro progressed through the age groups before breaking into professional football with Paris FC and then earning his move to Hamburg. His performances across Frances youth and second-tier competitions led to opportunities in Germanys top flight, where he added Bundesliga minutes to his CV.

Soumahoro, who holds both French and Ivorian nationality, has agreed a deal with Mallorca that runs until 30 June 2027, covering the length of his loan spell from Hamburg.
