Ablaye Mbengue: Senegal striker joins Al-Jeel on free transfer

Senegal centre-forward Ablaye Mbengue has joined Saudi First Division League club Al-Jeel from Qadsia SC on a free transfer, bringing an experienced goalscorer to the Saudi second tier.

Mbengue, 34, completed the move on 20 September 2026 after spending the early part of the 2025-26 season with Qadsia. The switch represents his latest move within the region after he joined the Kuwaiti club from Saudi side Al-Wehda in January.

The Dakar-born striker previously made his name in Saudi football with Al-Arabi, where he finished the 2022-23 campaign as the Saudi First Division League’s top scorer with 29 goals. That remains the clearest statistical landmark of his career and gives Al-Jeel a forward with a proven record in the competition.

Mbengue is right-footed and stands 1.87m tall. He began his senior career in Senegal with CNEPS Excel., moving to ASC Jaraaf before continuing his career with FC Sapins. He later moved to Russia, where he joined Terek Grozny, now known as Akhmat Grozny, in February 2015.

The forward also spent time with Dinamo Minsk in Belarus during the 2020-21 season on loan from Akhmat Grozny. His spell in Belarus ended in December 2021, after which he returned to Akhmat Grozny before becoming a free agent.

Mbengue subsequently joined Al-Arabi in April 2022 and remained with the club into the following season. He moved to Al-Wehda on a free transfer in September 2025, before switching to Qadsia several months later.

Al-Jeel will compete in the Saudi First Division League during the 2026-27 season. Mbengue joins the club without a transfer fee after leaving Qadsia, completing a return to Saudi football following his previous spells with Al-Arabi and Al-Wehda.

The transfer was completed on 20 September 2026.
