Abdullah Gomaa confirms FIFA ruling over Zamalek unpaid wages as he opens up on painful exit

Former Zamalek defender Abdullah Gomaa has revealed that the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) has issued a ruling in his favour regarding his outstanding financial claims against the club.

Gomaa, who departed Zamalek in 2023 after his contract was terminated, says he is now entitled to receive unpaid dues owed to him by the Cairo giants.

The 30-year-old has been without a club since his last spell with Baladeyet El Mahalla in 2024, but insists his priority is to resolve the dispute with Zamalek in an amicable manner.

Speaking on Al Shams Channel, Gomaa said: “The Football Association ruled in my favour that I am entitled to receive my dues from Zamalek.”

The former Egypt international added that he remains open to discussions with the club in order to bring the matter to a peaceful conclusion.

“I have no problem negotiating with Zamalek to end the matter amicably,” he stated.

Gomaa, however, ruled out a return to Zamalek, explaining that he has already moved on from that possibility and is focused on securing his financial rights.

“I have closed the file on returning to Zamalek again. My crisis will end with me getting my rights,” he said.

Reflecting on his exit from the club, Gomaa admitted that the manner of his departure affected him deeply, revealing that he struggled emotionally after leaving.

“Ahmed Suleiman had promised me that I would stay at Zamalek before my contract was terminated, and I was surprised that I was no longer at the club. I went into a state of depression for a year because of the way I left,” he added.

Gomaa spent several seasons with Zamalek, winning multiple domestic and continental titles during his time with the club before his unexpected departure in 2023.
