Abdullah El Said returns to Zamalek squad for Suez Petrojet match
Abdullah El Said has been included in the Zamalek squad for Monday’s Egyptian Premier League meeting with Suez Petrojet, after completing his rehabilitation programme.
Zamalek will face Suez Petrojet at Cairo Stadium at 20:00 local time on Monday in the third round of the Egyptian Premier League.
El Said was not named in Zamalek’s squad for either of their opening two league matches, against Al Ittihad Al Sakandary and National Bank of Egypt. His return provides the club with an experienced option as they prepare for their third fixture of the campaign.
According to information obtained by FilGoal.com, the 41-year-old was added to the squad after completing the rehabilitation work set out for him.
El Said joined Zamalek’s squad only days before the start of the season, following the resolution of his dispute and a meeting with club president Hussein Labib. He subsequently played a part in Zamalek’s Egyptian Premier League title success last season.
The midfielder made 35 appearances in all competitions during the previous campaign. He scored three goals and provided two assists during that run.
El Said has won three trophies with Zamalek. In addition to last season’s Egyptian Premier League title, he lifted the Egyptian Super Cup and the CAF Super Cup during the 2024-25 season.
His inclusion against Suez Petrojet comes as Zamalek seek to build on their opening two league results. El Said’s absence from those matches had kept him out of the club’s early-season plans, but the completion of his recovery programme has now allowed him to return to the squad.
The fixture will take place at Cairo Stadium, with kick-off scheduled for 20:00 on Monday. It is Zamalek’s third match of the Egyptian Premier League season and the first in which El Said has been selected after missing the meetings with Al Ittihad Al Sakandary and National Bank of Egypt.
The veteran player joined Zamalek’s group shortly before the season began after his issue was settled and he held talks with Hussein Labib. His contribution last season helped the club secure the league championship, while his three goals and two assists came across 35 appearances in all competitions.
El Said’s honours with Zamalek now include the Egyptian Premier League, the Egyptian Super Cup and the CAF Super Cup. His return to the squad against Suez Petrojet follows the completion of his rehabilitation programme and marks his first selection of the current league campaign.
