Abdul Mumin joins Girona as Ghanaian-Nigerian centre-back signs through to 2029
Abdul Mumin, the Ghanaian-Nigerian centre-back, has joined Girona from Rayo Vallecano on a free transfer, keeping the 28-year-old in Spanish football.
Mumin has signed a contract with Girona that runs until 30 June 2029. The move was completed on 18 August 2026, with the defender switching from Rayo Vallecano, where he had been playing in La Liga, to a Girona side competing in LaLiga2.
Born in Accra on 6 June 1998, Mumin stands 1.88m tall and operates primarily at centre-back. He is right-footed and arrives with a profile suited to the central defensive position, giving Girona another senior option in that area of the squad.
The transfer represents a continuation of Mumin’s career in Spain. His move from Rayo Vallecano to Girona is a domestic switch between clubs in the Spanish professional game, with the defender now tied to his new team for the next three years.
Mumin’s current market value is listed at €3m, although Girona have secured his arrival without a transfer fee. His contract length gives the club a clear commitment from the defender beyond the short term, while the player remains at the centre of a move completed during the 2026 transfer period.
The defender is also part of the Ghana-Nigeria national background recorded for him, although his recent competitive involvement has been limited. During the 2026 World Cup, he was listed for four possible matches but made no appearances, recorded no goals or assists and received no cards.
At Girona, Mumin joins a club operating in LaLiga2 and begins a new chapter after leaving Rayo Vallecano. His arrival adds experience and physical presence to the club’s defensive group, with his right-footed central-defender role clearly established.
Mumin has therefore completed a free transfer to Girona and will remain under contract with the club until June 2029.
