This morning, we reported on FC Nantes’ potential trouble in the Abdoulaye Touré affair. Now, the verdict is in, and it’s not in Nantes’ favor. Bastia and Djibril Cissé have been awarded three points.
The LFP Competitions Commission has ruled that FC Nantes forfeited their match against SC Bastia (originally won 2-0) on the first day of Ligue 1. This decision comes after Bastia filed a complaint, alleging that Nantes fielded Abdoulaye Touré, who was suspended for the game. Consequently, Nantes loses their three points, and the two goals they scored are nullified. Meanwhile, Sporting Bastia gains three points.
In the league standings, FC Nantes drops from 9th to 11th place with 30 points, while Bastia climbs from 10th to 8th with 36 points.
