Senegal defender Abdoulaye Seck nears Saudi Pro League transfer
Senegal international Abdoulaye Seck is expected to complete his move to Saudi Pro League newcomers Al-Faysali on Saturday as the promoted club continue to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season.
According to Saudi journalist Abdullah Madjeed, the 34-year-old central defender is due to sign his contract with Al-Faysali, bringing an end to speculation surrounding his next destination.
The move would see the experienced Senegalese defender begin a new chapter in his career in Saudi Arabia’s top flight.
Al-Faysali have been active in the transfer market following their promotion to the Saudi Pro League, with the club looking to add experience and quality as they prepare for the challenges of competing at the highest level of Saudi football.
Seck is expected to become one of the latest additions to the squad after the club secured the signing of striker Alexandre Mendy from Montpellier. His arrival would further strengthen the defensive options available to the newly promoted side as they seek to establish themselves in the league.
The defender brings significant experience from a career that has taken him across several countries.
During his professional journey, Seck has represented Diambars, Belgian club Royal Antwerp and Israeli side Maccabi Haifa, building a reputation as a dependable presence in central defence.
His expected move to Al-Faysali would also introduce him to another major stage in his career, with the Saudi Pro League becoming the latest competition in which the Senegal international will test himself.
The transfer would mark Seck’s first experience of playing club football in Saudi Arabia, where he will join a league that continues to attract established players from around the world.
Among the notable Senegalese names already competing in the division is Sadio Mané.
For Al-Faysali, the signing reflects the club’s determination to reinforce its squad after securing promotion.
The addition of an experienced defender with international pedigree is expected to provide valuable leadership as the team prepares for the demands of top-flight football.
Although the deal has yet to be officially completed, all indications suggest Seck is set to finalise the transfer on Saturday.
If confirmed, the move will see the African champion begin a fresh challenge with one of the Saudi Pro League’s newest members as preparations continue for the upcoming campaign.
