Abdoulaye Fall summoned in Senegal football election investigation

Senegal Football Federation president Abdoulaye Fall and several people linked to him have been summoned for questioning as part of an investigation into suspected corruption surrounding his election.

According to L’Observateur, the Dakar Urban Security Unit has begun a series of hearings into allegations connected to the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) presidential election.

The investigation centres on claims of “vote buying” and promises of undue advantages that were allegedly made to influence the election that resulted in Fall becoming president of the FSF.

The case has returned to the spotlight several months after a complaint was filed over the allegations.

L’Observateur reported on Tuesday that Moustapha Bitèye is expected to be the first person questioned by investigators. Fall and several other individuals named in the complaint are also expected to appear before investigators as part of the procedure.

Fall is currently outside Dakar and has reportedly been informed by police that he is required to attend questioning.

The investigation stems from a complaint filed by Mamadou Kandji against X. The complaint names Fall along with Elimane Lam, Moussa Mbaye, Moustapha Bitèye and Ndiambé Diop.

According to L’Observateur, the individuals named in the complaint are accused of involvement in alleged “vote buying” and promises of undue advantages intended to influence the outcome of the FSF presidential election.

The allegations relate specifically to the election that saw Fall take charge of Senegalese football.

The Public Prosecutor’s Office ordered an investigation into the matter in September 2025. The case then went for a lengthy period without any major public developments.

The latest hearings represent a new stage in the investigation, with investigators now seeking explanations from the people identified in the original complaint.

A series of interviews is expected to take place as investigators attempt to establish the circumstances surrounding the election and gather information relevant to the allegations.

The individuals named in the complaint will have the opportunity to provide their explanations during the hearings.

Once the questioning has been completed, investigators are expected to examine the information and evidence collected during the process.

The case will then be forwarded to the Public Prosecutor’s Office, which will determine what action should follow.
