Abdessamad Ezzalzouli scores Betis winner against Getafe

Abdessamad Ezzalzouli scored his first goal of the season as Real Betis beat Getafe 1-0 in La Liga on Thursday.

The Morocco international struck shortly before half-time to give Betis all three points at home in the sixth round of the Spanish league.

Ezzalzouli started the match and found the net in the 45th minute after being played in by Troy Parrott. The goal initially required a VAR review before it was confirmed, with the effort eventually standing as the only goal of the game.

The Moroccan winger finished from inside the penalty area with his right foot to put Betis ahead just before the interval.

Betis held on to their advantage after the break and Ezzalzouli remained on the pitch until the 72nd minute, when he was replaced by Rodrigo Riquelme.

His goal proved decisive as the Andalusian side secured another league victory.

The goal also continued Ezzalzouli’s productive return to the Betis starting line-up.

Ezzalzouli makes immediate impact

The 24-year-old had returned to the starting XI three days earlier for Betis’ away match against Villarreal on 14 September.

He played 66 minutes in that game and provided an assist as Betis recorded a 2-1 victory.

Before that appearance, Ezzalzouli had featured against Levante on 29 August, coming on for the final 17 minutes.

His appearance against Getafe was his third La Liga outing of the season and his second start. He has now played 155 minutes in the competition, recording one goal and one assist.

The goal against Getafe was his first of the 2026-27 campaign after a period of absence delayed his involvement at the start of the season.

His two starts since returning have now produced two direct contributions to Betis goals. He assisted against Villarreal before finding the decisive goal against Getafe.

Ezzalzouli has been at Betis since 2023

Ezzalzouli joined Real Betis permanently in September 2023 after previously spending the 2022-23 season on loan at Osasuna.

Betis announced his permanent transfer from Barcelona on 1 September 2023 in a deal worth €7.5m, with the player initially signing a contract running until 2028.

His spell with Osasuna had seen him make an impression in La Liga before the permanent move to the Andalusian club.

Since joining Betis, Ezzalzouli has been a regular option in attack, while the club has since extended his contract until June 2029.

His latest performance provides another positive moment following his delayed start to the season.

After returning to the starting line-up, the Moroccan has quickly made his presence felt, first creating a goal against Villarreal and then scoring the winner against Getafe.
