Abdessalem Hallaoui: Tunisian goalkeeper rejoins CS Sfaxien on free transfer

Tunisian goalkeeper Abdessalem Hallaoui has joined CS Sfaxien on a free transfer from US Monastir, signing a deal with the Ligue 1 side until June 2027.

The 37-year-old returns to Sfax after a career spent largely in Tunisian football, bolstering the club’s goalkeeping options with his experience. The move keeps him in the country’s top flight, with his arrival confirmed for the 2026-27 season.

Hallaoui switches to CS Sfaxien with an estimated market value of €100,000 and comes off two years at Monastir, whom he joined in July 2024, also as a free agent from Olympique Beja. His latest move continues a pattern of short-term spells that have taken him across several clubs in Tunisia and Saudi Arabia.

The Mahdia-born stopper first made his name with EM Mahdia before moving to ES Metlaoui in 2015. A switch to Saudi side Ohod Club followed in 2020, preceding his return to Tunisia with CS Chebba in 2021.

Hallaoui enjoyed one of the highlights of his career at Olympique Beja, where he was part of the side that lifted the Tunisian Super Cup in 2023. That success enhanced his reputation as a dependable presence between the posts in domestic competition.

Standing at 1.81m and capped at club level across multiple Tunisian outfits, Hallaoui now adds depth and know-how to a Sfaxien squad aiming to strengthen its position in Ligue 1. His contract at CS Sfaxien runs through to the end of June 2027, confirming his long-term commitment to the club.
