Abderrazak Hamdallah marks Al-Taawoun debut with Kings Cup penalty

Abderrazak Hamdallah scored his first goal for Al-Taawoun as the Morocco striker began his fourth Saudi Arabian club scoring chapter in Wednesday’s King’s Cup meeting with Damac.

The 35-year-old was named in Al-Taawoun’s attack for the last-32 tie and opened the scoring in the first minute of the second half.

Hamdallah converted from the penalty spot, sending the ball confidently to the goalkeeper’s left to register his first goal since joining Al-Taawoun during the current summer transfer window.

The striker moved to the club after ending his spell with Al-Shabab, having previously played for Al-Nassr and Al-Ittihad in Saudi Arabia.

Hamdallah’s first appearance for Al-Taawoun came on Saturday, when he featured in the goalless draw with Al-Khaleej in the opening round of the Saudi Roshn Saudi League. His goal against Damac therefore came in only his second appearance for the club.

Al-Taawoun is now the fourth Saudi club for which Hamdallah has scored. His previous goals in the country came with Al-Nassr, Al-Ittihad and Al-Shabab.

The only Saudi club for which Hamdallah has not scored is Al-Hilal. His involvement with Al-Hilal was limited to a single appearance, lasting 15 minutes, in their 2-1 defeat by Brazilian side Fluminense in the quarter-finals of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.

The penalty against Damac was also listed as Hamdallah’s 31st goal in the King’s Cup. The article’s breakdown credits him with 20 goals for Al-Nassr, six for Al-Ittihad and four for Al-Shabab.

Hamdallah has established himself as one of the most prolific forwards in Saudi football since arriving in the country, and his latest strike extends his record of scoring for clubs across the domestic game.

The goal was shared on social media with the caption: “Goal! ⚽️ Abderrazak Hamdallah scores his first goal with Al-Taawoun from a penalty against Damac 🟡🔵”.

The image and video post was published alongside the hashtags #Damac_AlTaawoun and #TheMostExpensiveCup, the latter referring to the King’s Cup. Unlike his spells with Al-Nassr, Al-Ittihad and Al-Shabab, Hamdallah had been unable to find the net for Al-Hilal because of his brief involvement with the club.

His arrival at Al-Taawoun gives the forward another opportunity to add to his Saudi scoring record, with his first goal for the club coming at the start of the second half of his first King’s Cup appearance.
