Abdelhamid Sabiri, the Moroccan midfielder currently on loan at Al Fayha SC from Fiorentina, has expressed a clear preference to continue his career in Saudi Arabia, foregoing a return to Europe. The 27-year-old, who has been playing in the Saudi Pro League since the summer of 2023, has stated his intention to stay and contribute to the region’s burgeoning football scene.

Purchased by Fiorentina in January 2023, Sabiri’s time with the Italian club has been limited. Shortly after his arrival, he was loaned back to his former club, Sampdoria, before making the move to Al Fayha SC.

The loan spell in Saudi Arabia has proven to be a turning point for Sabiri, who has flourished in the league, making a substantial impact with his performances.

In the current season, Sabiri has notched up 5 goals and 7 assists in 19 matches in the Saudi Pro League.

These impressive statistics underscore his significant contribution to Al Fayha SC and highlight his growing influence within the team.

At 27, Sabiri appears to have found both balance and motivation in the Saudi championship, which is gaining recognition for its ambitious development projects.

Reflecting on his future, Sabiri expressed a strong desire to remain in Saudi Arabia. “I don’t want to return to Europe,” he stated.

“I am comfortable in Saudi Arabia and I prefer to stay and contribute to the Saudi sports development project.

I can offer more in football, and the Saudi League will become one of the best leagues in the world,” the Moroccan international elaborated.

Sabiri’s inclination towards staying in Saudi Arabia is indicative of a broader trend among footballers who are drawn to the region’s promising prospects and favorable conditions.

Throughout his career, Sabiri has played for twelve different clubs, a journey marked by frequent moves and new beginnings.

Now, he seems poised for a period of stability, potentially with Al Fayha SC or even a permanent return to Fiorentina, should circumstances align.

The midfielder’s decision aligns with a growing movement among global football stars opting for the Saudi Pro League.

The league’s ambitious projects and the conducive environment for players’ professional growth are significant attractions.

Sabiri’s positive experience and public endorsement of the league’s future prospects could encourage more players to consider similar moves.

As the summer transfer window approaches, Sabiri’s commitment to staying in Saudi Arabia signals a new chapter in his career.

Whether he continues with Al Fayha SC or makes another move within the Saudi league, his focus remains on contributing to the sport’s development in the region.

This decision marks a significant moment for both Sabiri and the Saudi Pro League, reflecting the mutual benefits of such a partnership.
