Abdelaziz Barrada has officially joined Olympique de Marseille as of Wednesday, choosing the French club over other suitors, including FC Porto. The Moroccan midfielder expressed his commitment and optimism about his future at Marseille in an interview on the club’s official website.
“It’s a strong commitment for me. I see my long-term future at the club,” Barrada said. He added that his ambition is to help Marseille secure a top-three finish, stating, “I want to help OM finish on the podium. This is the place this club deserves.”
Barrada is eager to make his mark, especially in high-profile matches. “I can’t wait to play, especially the big matches. I’ve seen a few of OM’s friendlies, including those against Bayer Leverkusen and Benfica Lisbon. You can see straight away that Bielsa has already managed to impose his style.”
The midfielder also praised the competitive level of Ligue 1 compared to La Liga, where he previously played. “For me, playing in Ligue 1 was a must in my career. For several years, excellent players have joined this championship. Several teams are fighting for the top of the table. The level is very dense, unlike the Spanish championship where Barça and Real Madrid win almost everything.”
