Abdallah El Said set to leave Zamalek after agreement over unpaid wages

Abdallah El Said is set to end his time with Zamalek after the club’s board approved his request to terminate his contract by mutual consent and agree a schedule for paying his outstanding wages.

The 39-year-old midfielder’s representative, Abdel Hady Mohamed, said negotiations had produced an agreement between the player and the Egyptian club over both the termination of the contract and the settlement of the money owed to him.

“We asked two days ago to terminate Abdallah El Said’s contract with Zamalek and schedule his overdue financial dues. The board agreed to our request and we thank them for responding,” Mohamed told Egyptian newspaper Al Watan.

The decision follows a period of uncertainty over El Said’s future at Zamalek, with the player having failed to receive payments owed to him. The dispute also contributed to his absence from the club’s training sessions and meant he did not regularly take part in the team’s preparations for the new season.

El Said is owed about 8m Egyptian pounds by Zamalek. Recent discussions between the two parties have now resulted in an agreed formula for repaying the outstanding amount, with the payments to be made according to a schedule agreed during the negotiations.

Mohamed said the talks had reached an understanding on how the delayed payments would be handled, while both sides also agreed that El Said’s contract should be ended amicably rather than through a unilateral dispute.

The final administrative procedures are expected to be completed in the coming period. Once those formalities are concluded, El Said’s spell with Zamalek will come to an end.

The midfielder’s departure follows a failure to establish a regular training routine with the team during the recent period. His absence came amid the unresolved issue over his financial entitlements, which had remained unpaid before the latest agreement was reached.

Zamalek and the player must now complete the official documentation relating to the contract termination and the payment schedule. The club’s board has already approved the request submitted by El Said’s representative, leaving the remaining work focused on formalising the agreement.

The settlement brings clarity to a situation that had affected the player’s involvement in Zamalek’s preparations. It also provides a mutually agreed route for the club to address the approximately 8m Egyptian pounds in outstanding wages while formally closing El Said’s contract with the team.
