Aaron Tshibola: Central midfielder in talks over Kilmarnock FC return in Scotland transfer move

Aaron Tshibola has completed a return to Kilmarnock FC, joining the Scottish Premiership side from Greek club APO Levadiakos on a free transfer. The 31-year-old central midfielder has signed a contract running from 2026-02-02 to 2027-06-30, reuniting with the club where he previously enjoyed a successful spell in Scotland’s top flight.

The move sees Kilmarnock pick up a player currently valued at €350k without paying a fee, after APO Levadiakos allowed the DR Congo/England dual national to leave at the end of his spell in Greece. The transfer restores Tshibola to the Premiership, where he is expected to operate in his natural central midfield role, offering both physical presence and top-flight experience.

Tshibola arrives back in Scotland following a nomadic few years that took him through the Super League 1 in Greece with PAS Lamia 1964 and APO Levadiakos, the UAE Pro League with Hatta Club, and the Cypriot First Division with AEL Limassol. Before that, he featured in Turkey’s second tier with Gençlerbirliği Ankara and built his early reputation in England with Reading FC and Aston Villa, including loan spells at Nottingham Forest, Milton Keynes Dons and Hartlepool United.

This latest switch marks his third permanent stint with Kilmarnock, having first joined the Ayrshire club from Desportivo Aves in Portugal and later returned after leaving Aston Villa. His familiarity with the club and the league gives Kilmarnock an immediate plug‑and‑play option in midfield, rather than a long-term project needing adaptation to the Scottish game.

Born in London and standing 1.90m tall, Tshibola brings a blend of physicality and experience that Kilmarnock will expect to translate into stability in the centre of the pitch. His dual DR Congo and English nationality means he once again continues his career abroad rather than in his home country, with this move extending a long pattern of playing outside England in recent seasons.

His market value of €350k reflects a career that has seen significant peaks – notably during his early Aston Villa days, when his value reached multimillion levels – followed by steady service across several European and Middle Eastern leagues. For Kilmarnock, securing such a profile at no transfer cost represents a calculated move to add depth and leadership to their squad.

Tshibola’s transfer back to Rugby Park underlines a career defined by adaptability: from England’s Championship and League One to the top divisions of Portugal, Belgium, Cyprus, Greece, and the UAE, and now once more to the Scottish Premiership. If he can recapture the consistency from his earlier Kilmarnock spells, this contract could yet prove a pivotal late-career platform, shaping his legacy as a seasoned, reliable midfielder in a league he knows well and a club that clearly trusts him.
