Swansea City manager Alan Sheehan has expressed his delight at securing the services of Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Malick Yalcouyé on a season-long loan for the 2025-26 campaign.
The 19-year-old, who will wear the number eight shirt, joins as part of Sheehan’s plans to strengthen his midfield ahead of the new season.
Born in Mali but representing Ivory Coast at youth level, Yalcouyé has built a reputation for his tireless work rate, ability to break up play, and composure in possession.
His dynamic style is expected to bring both energy and stability to Swansea’s midfield as they prepare for a demanding Championship season.
“He is a player who has got a lot of ability, wonderful energy,” Sheehan said. “We want good players here, the right people, and for him to buy into it and be here – it’s a wonderful coup to have him for the season.
“I think he is a player who can play as a six, eight or 10, and I think he can play in the sides as well. He is a player who is full of energy and has a wonderful intensity to his play, but also he’s technically a very good player. To add a player like that to the squad, we are absolutely delighted.”
Yalcouyé’s versatility and technical skillset make him a valuable asset for Sheehan, who believes his new recruit will adapt quickly to the club’s style of play.
Swansea hope his addition will not only bolster their midfield depth but also give them more tactical flexibility throughout the season.
