‘A lot of questions’: Mohamed Salah’s covert dinner with Jordan Henderson fuels Saudi transfer talk
Mohamed Salah recently held a clandestine meeting with former Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson at a high-end Italian restaurant in London, a rendezvous that has significantly intensified speculation about the Egyptian star’s potential departure from Anfield.
The private meeting, held at Scalini in Chelsea, West London, lasted for around 90 minutes. Both players reportedly wore masks and hats in an attempt to maintain discretion, though their presence did not go unnoticed by other patrons.
Sources close to the situation suggested that the conversation was dominated by Salah asking Henderson “a lot of questions”.
Henderson, who previously spent five months playing for Al-Ettifaq in the Saudi Pro League, is believed to have been providing insights into the lifestyle and environment of football in the Middle East.
This has fueled rumors that Salah is seriously considering a move to a Saudi club, a possibility that has been a recurring subject of transfer speculation.
The meeting follows an “explosive” interview given by Salah where he publicly criticized new Liverpool manager Arne Slot and claimed he felt “thrown under the bus” by the club.
These comments have cast further doubt over his future at Liverpool. Saudi Pro League officials have openly expressed their desire to sign Salah, with CEO Omar Mugharbel confirming, “Mohamed Salah is welcome in the Saudi League”.
While Liverpool’s official stance is that they have no intention of selling the forward, who signed a lucrative new contract in April 2025, the meeting with Henderson is seen by some as a strong indication that Salah is exploring his options ahead of the upcoming January transfer window.
Al-Hilal, Al-Qadsiah, and Neom are among the Saudi clubs reportedly interested in securing his services
