After two consecutive defeats in the Premier League and the Champions League, Chelsea has faced criticism, particularly for its goal-scoring deficiencies. Questions are being raised about whether José Mourinho made a mistake in his choices during the summer transfer window by enlisting Samuel Eto’o and retaining Torres and Ba.
Former Chelsea player Tony Cascarino believes that Mourinho should have brought in Christian Benteke. Cascarino stated, “I spoke this summer about the urgency of recruiting a replacement for Didier Drogba, and I thought the best player of this profile was Benteke. I thought he would have been a top signing. This is the type of player Chelsea needed with their style of play. With the way Mourinho has played for years, he loves this type of very physical striker. He doesn’t have it today, he has three center forwards at his disposal and he doesn’t know which one to choose. Benteke would have made a big difference in my opinion,” in an interview with Talksport.
