Naji Al-Jouini, the general supervisor of arbitration, held a press conference on Friday at the seminar hall of the National Technical Management Headquarters of the Tunisian Football Federation.
Al-Jouini reiterated that the National Arbitration Administration would not resort to foreign arbitration, expressing confidence in Tunisian referees.
He emphasized that Egyptian referees would only be relied upon within the scope of exchange agreements.
“There have been instances where referees made mistakes, and we are striving to enhance our referees both physically and technically,” Al-Jouini added.
Furthermore, he emphasized the endeavor to rebuild the arbitration system to ensure Tunisia’s presence in upcoming continental and international competitions.
Referring to recent controversy, Al-Jouini clarified misconceptions regarding the exclusion of certain referees, including Sadok Selmi, stating they were not frozen from appointments, contrary to rumors.
Discussions with Youssef Al-Alami, president of Club Africain, were reported, with Al-Jouini indicating that disagreements had been overcome, and doors were open to all clubs.
In conclusion, Al-Jouini stressed the need to foster a positive atmosphere between referees and clubs, urging both parties to steer clear of ill intentions and restore trust, all in the interest of Tunisian football.
