Bengali-Fodé Koïta, the Franco-Guinean striker for Stade Malherbe de Caen, acknowledged the disappointment but remains optimistic about their chances. Looking ahead to their upcoming matches against Nîmes on Tuesday and Dijon on Friday, Koïta emphasized the importance of unity and resilience.
“We had our heart set on completing this climb this evening, but I think we missed out. We must react, not throw everything away like that. So it’s up to us to question ourselves and ensure these things from Tuesday,” Koïta said.
Despite the setback, Caen still holds a strong position in Ligue 2, sitting in second place tied on points with Lens and two points ahead of Nancy. Both Lens and Nancy have only one match remaining.
