Pape Diop responded to racist chants from Atletico Madrid fans during a La Liga match between Levante and Atletico by performing dance moves in front of them. This action led to confrontations between players from both teams.
Despite the controversy, the Senegalese midfielder stands by his actions. Speaking to Marca, Diop said, “I try not to dwell on what happened and move forward, but it’s complicated. I’ve faced similar situations in other stadiums and have always overcome them. However, this time it happened in front of my daughter and wife. I couldn’t let it slide. I reacted appropriately. I have no regrets.”
