Real Madrid’s goalkeeper Iker Casillas recently paid 1.6 million euros to the tax authorities following a tax inspection related to his image rights. However, it’s reported that Casillas did not commit any offense and therefore will not face any additional sanctions. This information was revealed by the Spanish newspaper La Vanguardia.
The tax adjustment Casillas made is not an indication of wrongdoing, but rather a standard procedure resulting from the inspection. It’s worth noting that Casillas is not the only player to undergo such scrutiny, as his teammates Xabi Alonso and David Villa, who now plays for Atlético Madrid, have also been subjected to inspections by the Spanish tax authorities.
