Nigeria is set to face Tanzania in the second round of qualifying for the African Cup of Nations, Junior category, and their coach, Manu Garba, is determined to secure a victory. Garba, who was promoted to starting coach of the U20s after their World Cup victory, expressed his ambition for the upcoming match:
“We are going to Dar Es Salaam to win. Why beat around the bush by saying we should be cautious? We never use pretense, and we might as well be direct,” he stated in an interview with cafonline.com.
Garba is confident in his team, having coached many of the players during their World Cup triumph in the United Arab Emirates: “I know them better than anyone since I was their coach at the time of the coronation. I can count on reliable players like Alhassan Ibrahim, Kelechi Iheanacho, Suleiman Abdullahi, Musa Yahaya, or Ifeanyi Matthew. Our junior team is fully committed to continuity, which is very important and bodes well.”
Despite a loss to Benin (0-1) during preparations, Garba remains optimistic about Nigeria’s chances in the upcoming match.
