Mohamed Yacoub (32nd) and El Mamy Cheikhou Traoré (86th) were the goal-scorers for Mauritania, while Mohamed Varney found the net for Liberia in the 63rd minute. The aggregate score favored Mauritania, allowing them to advance to the next round of the qualifiers.
Patrice Neveu, the coach of the Mauritanian selection, expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance and qualification. He acknowledged that Senegal, their next opponent, is considered the favorite but emphasized that in a two-legged match, anything is possible. Neveu also mentioned that he has six months ahead of him to further improve the team and believes they can make a strong showing against Senegal in the upcoming matches.
