The implementation of the 75% tax on salaries exceeding 1 million euros, which affects several clubs in the French championship, was initially scheduled to commence on Wednesday, April 30. However, there has been a new development: the tax has been postponed for a few weeks, as reported by Les Echos. This postponement is attributed to the challenges associated with implementing this tax.
In Ligue 1, 14 clubs are subject to this tax, amounting to a total cost of 44 million euros, with PSG alone responsible for 20 million euros of that sum. Monaco, whose headquarters are not located in France, is among the exempted teams.
Overall, it is anticipated that this tax will generate 260 million euros in revenue in 2014 and 160 million euros in 2015.
