The Confederation of African Football conducted the draw for the qualifiers for the 2015 African Cup of Nations last Sunday in Cairo. Egypt found themselves in a challenging group alongside Tunisia and Senegal in Pool G. The other teams in the group are yet to be determined from among Burundi, Botswana, the Central African Republic, or Guinea-Bissau.
“We are ready to take on the challenge,” said Egypt’s coach Chawqi Gharib. Egypt, with a rich history in the tournament, winning in 2006, 2008, and 2010, aims to bounce back after missing out on the final phases in 2012 and 2013. Gharib emphasized the importance of qualifying for the CAN, regardless of the opponent, stating, “It would be a shame if the Pharaohs miss the CAN for the third time in a row.”
Gharib outlined his preparation plans for the upcoming qualifiers, expressing the need for significant preparation due to the difficulty of the group. He intends to present his program to the Egyptian Football Federation promptly and hopes for their acceptance.
