The friendly match between Gabon and Senegal scheduled for May 21 in Libreville has been canceled, according to Pierre Alain Mouguengui, the new president of Fegafoot. Mouguengui cited the absence of a coach as the reason behind the cancellation. Gabon has been without a coach since the departure of Portuguese coach Paulo Duarte after the 2014 World Cup qualifiers. Despite launching a call for applications, no response has been received, leaving the team coachless.
This decision may disappoint Alain Giresse, the manager of the Senegal national team, who was hoping to utilize the friendly match as preparation ahead of the upcoming CAN 2015 qualifiers in September. Senegal is grouped with Egypt and Tunisia in Group G for the qualifiers.
