Barry Boubacar, known as “Copa,” is set to continue his journey with the Belgian team Lokeren, despite previous speculation about his departure. The Ivory Coast goalkeeper, whose contract was set to expire in June, has reportedly reached an agreement with Sporting de Lokeren to extend his contract for two new seasons.
While there were rumors of interest from a French club, Copa Barry ultimately decided to remain with his preferred club in Belgium. Trained at the renowned academy established by Jean-Marc Guillou in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, Copa joined Stade Rennais in 2000 as a professional trainee. Although he initially struggled to break into the first team, he found success after being loaned to Beveren, ultimately establishing himself as one of the most sought-after goalkeepers in the Jupiler League.
