Reactions poured in swiftly following the announcement of the groups for the 2015 CAN qualifiers. Group E presents a formidable challenge, bringing together Ghana, Togo, Guinea, and one team yet to be determined from among Mauritania, Uganda, Madagascar, and Equatorial Guinea.
Michel Dussuyer, coach of the Sily National, shared his initial thoughts with RFI (Radio France Internationale). “We find ourselves in a challenging group,” he remarked. “Ghana is a powerhouse in African football, regularly qualifying for both the African Cups and the World Cups. They are a formidable team. Additionally, Togo, with players like Emmanuel Adebayor, Alaixys Romao, Serge Gakpé, and Kossi Agassa, poses a significant threat. Togo had a strong showing in the 2013 CAN. Therefore, it’s a tough group, especially considering our third opponent, which is likely to be Equatorial Guinea or Uganda.”
As for the former coach of Benin, Ghana stands out as the clear favorite: “If we were to assess this group, Ghana would undoubtedly be considered the frontrunner, while Togo and Guinea will battle it out for second place.”
