Djibril Cissé, the Bastia striker, found himself sidelined from the match against Lyon due to an unusual reason: he arrived late for Saturday’s training session. This absence was enforced by Frédéric Hantz, his coach, adhering strictly to team rules.
Cissé explained the situation, stating that he was stopped by the gendarmerie on Saturday morning, just 5 minutes away from the training center, as he didn’t have his driving license with him. He promptly notified the coach, who arrived at the scene to assess the situation. However, despite resolving the issue and arriving at training more than half an hour late, Cissé fell foul of the coach’s regulations, leading to his exclusion from the match.
In his defense, Cissé clarified that the delay was not entirely his fault, as he was detained by the gendarme while awaiting someone to bring his driving license. Despite missing the trip to Lyon, where Bastia suffered a 4-1 defeat, Cissé expressed his support for his teammates on Twitter.
