Valenciennes’ prospects of remaining in Ligue 1 for the next season seem increasingly bleak following their defeat to Guingamp on Saturday evening. Eloge Enza Yamissi, the Central African midfielder, expressed his disappointment, particularly towards his team’s attackers.
“We needed to be more effective in front of goal. However, our attackers were not getting into the box, which made it difficult for us. They were only making runs on the wings. There’s not much else to say. We lacked urgency in the first half, despite having a few good chances. Then, we conceded a goal from a set piece. That’s football,” Enza Yamissi commented on beIN Sports.
Enza Yamissi conceded, “It is almost impossible to avoid relegation now,” acknowledging the dire situation Valenciennes finds themselves in.
With a nine-point gap behind the first team outside the relegation zone and only three matchdays remaining in the championship, VAFC stands on the brink of relegation to Ligue 2.
