The 77th congress of the International Sports Press Association (AIPS – WORLD) will officially commence this Sunday night in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan. This historic event will take place at the JW Marriott Hotel and will be inaugurated by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, marking the first time in the association’s history that such an honor has been bestowed.
More than a hundred sports journalists from five continents are expected to participate in the congress, including nearly thirty representatives from Africa. This year’s congress holds special significance as it commemorates the 90th anniversary of the founding of AIPS WORLD in 1924 in Budapest, Hungary.
The congress, which begins on Sunday, April 27, will feature a series of festivities and events, culminating on Thursday, May 1, 2014. It is worth noting that AIPS WORLD has been led by Italian Gianni Merlo since 2006.
