Najat Vallaud-Belkacem, the Minister of Sports of Moroccan origin, has expressed her disapproval of Paris Saint-Germain’s handling of financial fair play regulations, despite her support for the club during the quarter-finals against Chelsea. The minister emphasized the importance of financial fair play in ensuring fairness in competitions and suggested that PSG’s financial resources should be comparable to other participants to maintain balance.
She highlighted the risks associated with allowing unchecked investment in football clubs, stating that it could lead to imbalances and potentially result in clubs seeking public bailouts in the event of bankruptcy. Vallaud-Belkacem emphasized her stance against privatizing profits in good times and socializing losses during difficult times.
The minister plans to study a project related to Euro 2016 during her upcoming steering committee meeting.
