The organizing committee for the African Junior Cup, set to take place in Senegal, was established on Wednesday by Minister of Sports Mbagnick Ndiaye. Chaired by Diagana Ndiaye, the committee comprises 11 commissions tasked with organizing the CAN U 20 tournament scheduled from March 8 to March 22, 2015.
According to Diagna Ndiaye, CAF has approved and accredited several stadiums for the event, including Léopold Sédar Senghor Stadium in Dakar, Caroline Faye Stadium in Fatick, and Ngalandou Diouf Stadium in Rufisque.
Meeting the organizational challenge is a top priority for the president of the CoCAN: “I believe I am well supported for this,” he stated. He added, “We aim to create an event that will leave a lasting mark on Senegal in terms of organization. Our goal is to have a successful football celebration. To achieve this, we need to ensure that everything is well organized and that players are provided with excellent conditions.”
The Minister of Sports emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring the well-being of the players: “The state will spare no effort in providing the players with the best possible conditions.” He expressed confidence in President Diagna and his team’s ability to succeed, citing their past achievements with the standardization committee.
Additionally, Master Augustin Senghor, President of the Senegalese Football Federation, believes that hosting the junior CAN is a significant opportunity to once again host the African Cup of Nations for senior teams.
