Despite an outstanding season, where his club stands second in the league even after ascending from Ligue 2, Claudio Ranieri, the coach of AS Monaco, continues to maintain tense relations with the club’s presidency.
Ranieri reiterated his stance in an interview with the Team, stating, “I believe that when someone gives me the opportunity to work well, I deliver. I have one year left on my contract, and if the club management is satisfied, I will continue. Otherwise, things will change. However, if I secure second place, I will be content. I will have fulfilled my duties. You know, the coach is often the last to know things, like a cuckolded husband… If Monaco wants to continue winning, they must retain me. Otherwise, Monaco’s winning streak will come to an end!”
This sentiment echoes Ranieri’s previous remarks made over the weekend, where he expressed uncertainty about his future at Monaco, citing ongoing discussions about potential replacements such as Mancini, Villas-Boas, Allegri, Conte, and even Simeone. He emphasized his dedication to his work and called for reciprocal trust from the club’s president.
AS Monaco currently holds the second position in Ligue 1, trailing PSG by 10 points. Additionally, the club is set to compete in the Coupe de France semi-final against Guingamp tomorrow.
